Socion
What's new
A running log of updates to socion.app. Newest first.
Curious what's next? See our Roadmap ↗
6 July 2026New
- Ask the AI — after each answer, the Socionics assistant now suggests a few natural follow-up questions as clickable chips (up to 3, or 2 on phones), so you can keep the conversation going with one tap
- Ask the AI — once a conversation with the Socionics assistant has run up some cost, a small note appears showing roughly what it cost in AI usage, with a link to help cover it if you find it useful
6 July 2026Fixed
- Quadra Rooms — tapping a "new room message" toast now opens the room the message was actually in, instead of always dropping you into your own quadra room
- Typing chat — the interviewer occasionally skipped ahead to the next topic early instead of following up on a short answer; its replies are now generated in a way that can't be malformed, so this shouldn't happen anymore
5 July 2026New
- Quadra Rooms — when a room has gone quiet for a while, a friendly "Socion Host" now drops in a short conversation-starter to get things going again. It only chimes in when a room has been silent and never posts twice in a row, so it nudges the conversation along rather than talking over it — and you can reply and react to its prompts just like any other message
5 July 2026Fixed
- Stats — the page now scrolls with the normal window scrollbar instead of a stray one that appeared floating in the middle of the page
4 July 2026New
- Settings — a new "Sign-in" section shows which method you use to log in — email, Google, or Discord (or more than one, if they're linked to the same account)
- Sign in — you can now sign in or create your account with Discord, alongside Google. Signing in by email still works too — it's now tucked under a "Sign in with email instead" link so the one-tap options come first
- Sign in — the Google button now matches dark mode instead of showing as a bright white box
- Feed — a friendly reminder now appears at the top of your feed if you've left anonymous mode or "hide activity" on, since both quietly lower how often other members see you. One tap makes you visible again — no trip to Settings — or you can snooze it. It's deliberately light-touch: anonymous mode (which hides you from the feed entirely) nudges you again after a few days, then a week, then a month, while hiding just your activity is mentioned once and then left alone
4 July 2026Fixed
- Typing chat — fixed the free typing chat getting stuck forever on "Working through what you've shared…" at the end, which also used up one of your daily chats each time you reloaded to try again. Your result now appears reliably, and if something does go wrong at the last step you get a "Try again" option instead of a frozen screen
- Typing chat — if the chat fails to start, it no longer counts against your 3 free chats a day; the try is given back so a hiccup on our end doesn't cost you one of yours
- Get Typed — if your type is already verified, the Get Typed page now still offers the free typing chat as a "test run" you can try out of curiosity, instead of hiding it; your confirmed type never changes
- Signup — fixed the profile step on mobile where the "First name or alias" box was pushed off the top of the screen and out of reach: you'd see the "still needed to continue" note but no box to type your name in. Everything now stays scrollable and reachable
- Feed — the "matches available" numbers are now accurate, and scrolling no longer hits stretches of near-empty pages. Both used to count profiles you'd already passed, blocked, or that were hidden; the feed now leaves those out from the start
- Messages — the conversations list now loads faster, especially if you have long-running chats; it no longer pulls in every message from every conversation just to show the previews
3 July 2026New
- Points — you now earn points for completing your profile (adding a bio and a photo), logging in each day, matching, messaging, and posting or reacting in Boards and Quadra Rooms. See your total on your Settings page and Dashboard, next to the referral panel, and check the Help page for how it all works. Nothing to spend them on yet — that's coming later
- Points — backfilled for everyone already active: existing profiles with a bio and photo, past matches, and qualified referrals all counted retroactively
- Feed — your points total now shows on your sidebar profile card, right under Connections
- Points — added tiers (Regular, Active, Core Member, Legend) and a top-10 leaderboard, shown alongside your points total
- Feed — the quadra activity widget now shows 5 members instead of 2
- Points — added a "See breakdown" toggle showing exactly how you earned them, by category
- Dashboard and Ask AI — fixed the browser tab title not showing the page name (it would get overwritten as soon as your unread count changed)
- Signup — the "Next" button on the profile step now tells you exactly what's missing (name, date of birth, or type) instead of just staying greyed out
- Signup — if your type wasn't already picked earlier in onboarding, you now choose it from a dropdown of all 16 types instead of typing it in from memory, with a "not sure at all" option to take the free typing chat right after signing up
- Signup — fixed "I don't know yet" not actually taking you into the free typing chat after finishing signup; it was landing on the feed instead every time
- Settings — fixed account deletion failing for anyone who'd earned any points
2 July 2026Update
- Typing — new free typing chat: a short, adaptive conversation with Socion's AI gives you a preliminary type read in about 5 minutes, no forced-choice questions. Find it via the banner on the Get Typed page
- Signup — "I don't know yet" now leads straight into the free typing chat right after you create your account, instead of the old multiple-choice questionnaire
- Homepage — redesigned to get you to the good part faster: one clear "Get started free" button instead of two, and the interactive swipe demo now sits right under the headline instead of buried further down the page
- Feed — fixed the sidebar profile card showing an unnecessary scrollbar on common desktop screen sizes
- Feed — the sidebar now shows who from your quadra is online now or active today, with a shortcut into your quadra's room
- Feed — Premium subscribers now see a preview of the latest founder update in the sidebar
- Dashboard and Boards — the header and footer now stay put on screen while you scroll, instead of the footer only showing up once you'd scrolled all the way down
1 July 2026Update
- Feed — new "With bio" filter to show only profiles that have written something about themselves
- Settings — subscribers whose last payment failed now see a clear warning and a one-click way to update their payment method, instead of the same copy shown to active subscribers
- Network — the graph tooltip now follows your cursor while you hover a node or connection, instead of staying fixed where you first hovered
- Changelog — new Roadmap link to see what's coming next on GitHub
- Profile cards — the verified checkmark now matches your type's quadra color instead of a fixed brown
- Messages — jumping to a quoted message now highlights the message bubble itself instead of the whole row
- Navigation — Sign out is now a clearly distinct button at the far right of the nav, on both desktop and mobile
- Get Typed — added new testimonials from Andrew and Sol, and turnaround times now read in working days so they don't look like calendar/wall-clock time
- Feed — the "Show anonymous" filter was confusingly named for what it did, so it's now called "Non-anonymous"
- Support & Feed — removed the old type-mug shop block; the feed slot now points to the boards instead
- Rooms — member names in the desktop Activity sidebar are now links to their profile
- Updates — links in founder posts are now clickable instead of plain text
- Messages — bubbles are wider on mobile and the reply/react/edit/delete buttons now sit below the bubble instead of squeezed in beside it
- Messages — unmatching from inside a conversation now removes it from your list right away instead of needing a reload
- Messages — fixed the conversation view sometimes settling short of the newest message when an image was still loading in
- Feedback button — now follows dark mode instead of always showing light colors
- Dashboard — your daily Ask AI usage count now stays current when you come back from asking a question
- Network — the fullscreen graph now resizes properly when you rotate your device or resize the window
- Sign in — the 6-digit code field no longer drops leading zeros
- Saved — fixed the "Try again" button crashing instead of retrying after a failed load
- Messages — see whether the person you're chatting with is online now, active today, or active this week, right in the sidebar and conversation header
- Notifications — fixed connection and message notifications sometimes arriving twice on a slow connection or reconnect
- Mobile navigation — fixed the dropdown menu sometimes overlapping the header instead of sitting cleanly below it
- Messages (iOS) — fixed the site header sometimes overlapping the conversation header
- Messages (Firefox) — fixed not being able to scroll the message list while composing a long message
- Profile edit — your Socionics type is now chosen from a dropdown of the 16 types instead of typed in, to avoid typos
- Settings — clarified that the 24-hour clock preference only affects exact times (Messages, Rooms, Admin), not relative ones like "2h ago"
- Feed — the sidebar now shows a compact profile widget with your profile viewers, connections, and quick links to saved profiles, matches, rooms, and boards, instead of your full profile card. A "Preview your card" link still shows exactly how you appear to others
- Feed — the sidebar's "Profile viewers" number now links straight to your Views tab
- Feed — "Preview your card" now opens in a focused overlay instead of expanding inline
- Feed — on wide screens, a new right-hand rail shows recent site updates, live member/connection stats, and a Premium upsell for free members, with the feed column now centered between both sidebars
- Feed — your mini profile card now shows a Free tier / Premium badge
- Site banner — no longer dismissable, and now follows light/dark mode instead of always showing dark colors
- Feed — removed the sidebar's own announcement box now that the sitewide banner covers it
- Feed — "Your strongest matches" is back at the top of the feed on every screen size
- Stats & Profile pages — header and footer now stay fixed in place while the content scrolls, matching the rest of the site
21 June 2026New
- Dashboard — signed-in members now land on a personalized homepage instead of the public landing page. Cards summarize unread messages, quadra/Socion room activity, this week's board activity, your daily Ask AI usage, founder updates since your last visit, and your most recent notifications, each linking straight to where the action is
- Dashboard — a "Your type" banner always shows: a nudge to get professionally typed if your self-typing result wasn't confident, or a prompt to explore your type further with the AI if it was
- Dashboard — the referral panel is right there on your homepage, so inviting friends is always one scroll away
- Navigation — new Dashboard link with a home icon, on both desktop and mobile, takes you back to your personalized homepage anytime
- Sign in — signing in now takes you to your dashboard instead of straight to the swipe feed (brand new accounts finishing onboarding still land in the feed)
20 June 2026New
- Boards — posts and comments now have a Report action (reason + optional notes). Founders can review and resolve open reports in Admin
- Profiles — a Report button on member profiles lets you flag a user with a reason and optional notes, reviewed by founders in Admin
- Catch-up summary — if you've been offline more than 30 minutes, signing back in now shows a few grouped toasts summarizing what you missed (messages, connections, new compatible members, founder posts) instead of replaying every notification one by one
- Rooms — toast notifications for new messages now cover every room, not just your own quadra and the Socion room
19 June 2026New
- Rooms — new Socion room, open to all 16 types in one shared conversation alongside the four quadra rooms. Toast and push notifications now cover it too
- Rooms — on desktop, the quadra header, switcher, and active-member list now live in a right-hand sidebar with online status, mirroring the Messages layout
- Boards — comments now support one level of threaded replies
- Admin — new Top Referrers dashboard card, plus a list of users currently holding referral-earned premium with days remaining
- Settings — choose between 12-hour and 24-hour clock display for message timestamps
- Referrals — the 180-day cumulative cap is now disclosed in the reward email and on the Premium page, not just in Settings
- Connection cap — users who hit the cap right after their referral premium lapsed now see a targeted refer-again-or-upgrade message
18 June 2026New
- Boards — new discussion boards open to all members: introductions, type discussions, theory & typing, relationships, and general chat. Post, comment, react, and edit or delete your own posts and comments. Founders/mods can pin posts. Each board shows its post count, and posts now show a view counter
- Messages — on desktop, the conversation header (profile, relation, compatibility breakdown) now lives in a right-hand sidebar instead of stacking above the message list, freeing up space to see more of the conversation. Inline action buttons replace the old "..." dropdown
- Connection cap — the free-tier 3-connection limit was only checked against the person initiating a connection, so a Premium user (unlimited connections) could push a free-tier user past their cap. Now enforced for both people across new connections, swipe matches, and reconnecting
- Messages — connection list divider lines now match the app's standard border color instead of looking brighter/whiter than the rest of the UI
- Rooms — fixed the room header and notification banner rendering above the visible screen on some mobile browsers (e.g. Samsung devices), with no way to scroll up to reach them
- Socionics AI — chat history now persists across reloads, and replies get Copy and Retry buttons
- Socionics AI — suggested questions are now personalised to your type's relations and your actual active matches
- Ask AI — promoted from a buried icon into a labeled link in the main desktop nav
- Admin — Reports panel now shows who blocked whom, with an Unblock button to reverse hard blocks
- Messages — merged the mobile "Full breakdown" bar and options button into a single compact header row
17 June 2026New
- Referrals — invite friends from Settings. Each friend who joins and finishes their profile earns you 30 days of Premium (up to 180 days total), and unlocks a 7-day Premium trial for them
- Referrals — founding members and Premium subscribers don't need extra days, so referring as one effectively gifts your friend a free 7-day Premium trial — and still counts toward your tier badge
- Referrals — Connector, Networker, Catalyst, and Catalyst+ tier badges based on your qualifying referral count
- Referrals — Top Connectors leaderboard on Settings, showing the highest-referring members (anonymous-mode users are excluded)
- Referrals — referred friends see a "You were invited by [name]" banner during onboarding

- Feed — quadra filter. Four colored pills (Alpha/Beta/Gamma/Delta) next to the Filters button let you narrow the feed to one quadra

- Feed — smooth transitions added across page changes, modals, and the Browse ↔ Swipe switch

30 May 2026Fix

30 March 2026Update
